When will my dreads mature

Introduce Yourself

O okay thanks. And no my dreads in the front are prolly 3/4 in think and the backs are about 1 in thick

soaringeagle said:
umm hate to tell u but wax dont weash out that easy at all and wax will slow maturity a ton for instance knottysleeveds combed out 6 year wax dreads and said the wax free dreads were closer to mature at 6 months then the waxy dreads at 3 yearsso id take extra efforts to get the wax iut cause unless u have very very thin dreads your not gonna wash oit outand when the wax is out they generaly mature about a year or so

When will my dreads mature

Introduce Yourself

Okay so I've have my dreads for almost 4 months and love them more than anything. I wash them every three to four days with dhhq dread soap. I wear a hat to sleep(not a wool hat though just a regular tam). I have a lot of loose hair but I've learned to not be bothered anymore cause it's all part of the experience. I'm not in any rush or anything but I was wondering if anyone could tell me when you think they will mature. They seem like there are all tightening up pretty good, but some are still loose. And I used wax for about a month but I'm pretty sure I got most or even all of it out.

WOAH ! yeah let them be and they will dread along with the wrong dread beside the one you want it to dread to.. accept it and lurve it or rip it apart and let it grow out to .. wait for it .. dread along with the wrong dread beside the one you want it to dread to .. best thing is to try and be less hetero about the WHOLE thing .. and I mean the WHOLE thing if you get my drift :D

Introduce Yourself

Alright I'm in month 3 and my dreads are starting to tighten up but there is a lot of loose hair at the top and it's not that big of a deal but it's kinda gay and I don't really like it. Any ideas on how to eliminate it?

I have questions about dreadwax - yes, I'm really asking this here lol

Dread Products

Hey I just cut my hair today for a job and when I cut it I was not happy with what I saw. It was disgusting so much wax build up it was gross as shit. I used wax for the first month I have had dreadlocks(DHHQ wax) and then stoped cause it felt gross and unnatural. So I did the boiling water and paper towel trick with a friend and repeated every couple of days then I was convinced it was all out. I have had my dreads for 5 months and some in the back were as hard as a rope like you said i thought it was just maturing but when I cut it off and dissected it is was just wax. Gross right? So I felt the difference between the waxy ones and the ones that seemed to be free of wax. The ones without it were very soft and tight(tight but very flexible and nicely stayed together). The ones that had wax were as stiff as a board and were perfectly round from palm rolling. They don't really fell rightwhen there on your head compared to the other ones. Well I'll rap this up. What I want to say is I can't see anyone wanting perfectly round dreads that are so tight and inflexible that they are just uncomfortable and annoying for everything except show. I'm very dissapointed that I found dread head hq before dreadlockssite cause they would have given me fair warning that your product is not a good idea. I will never recommend it.
