Starting Dreads With Hair 22-24 Inches long ***Natural Method***

Dread Maintenance

ya I know they will, my ends are extreamly thin and wispy I havent had a hair cut for over 10 years ha ha, its kinda been this length forever as it would grow I'd have wads of hair in my brush from where it would break off. So I am expecting it to shrink at first but after awhile when that hair that would have been lost is locked up it'll seem like I have more hair in the long run. Anyone suggest a salt spray for a natural method?

Starting Dreads With Hair 22-24 Inches long ***Natural Method***

Dread Maintenance

Hello Everyone! I took the plunge 3 days ago and threw away my brush. My hair is super super straight, but the good thing is I got a ton of split ends that add texture. I've only got 1 question and that is with my hair being so long to begin with, is it super important to start ripping them apart right away or should I wait a awhile before I mess with them. I just dont want my hair to form a few MEGA dreads.. I also wear a ball cap all day long I hope that doesnt case any ill effects thanks.

Something I am very curious about. Has anyone who is white/hispanic/asian anything other than black had issues with black people over their dreads?

Life Issues Facing Dreads

Yea I'm kinda going to go through the same what the hell are you doing, but not being accused of stealing the natural ability to have my hair tie knots. I live right now in a town of 1000, Redneck central, southern Idaho. I hear the N word on a regular basis. And its going to be uneducated hicks making comments as my hair starts knotting up. But whatever, I wont take any of it personally I'd be stupid to actually care what these morons think. And I got greener pastures ahead of me. Once my house sells I'm off to Northern California, ahhhh drool... :) It all comes down to what makes you happy!!!

Stinky

General Questions

Grow your finger nails out a bit and while washing your hair really scratch your scalp with them. Excessive oils and skin cells are building up and creating the "pungent smell". When you didn't have dreads a brush or comb helped to scratch these dead skin cells away. Now nothing is removing them so you have to get rid of them while your scalp adjusts to the new conditions of having dreads. As time goes less and less work is required in the shower. This worked for me anyway. :)

Earth.

I got nothing but good things to say about Maylees Gardens Nag Champa Dread Soap Bar. It smells just the same as the incense, leaves dreads feeling nice and soft and the smell!!!! THE SMELL!!!!! ha ha.... I washed with her soap and after a couple days I washed again with a normal shampoo diluted (I know its a no-no but?) , and guess what, the over powering NAG CHAMPA is all I can still smell even after a few days of washing with the diluted shampoo. Great stuff, although not as powerfull now, it still smells really earthy though. Shes has a shop here on this site. A++++++
