Struggling with loose hair...

Dread Maintenance

hey :)I see on your page that you did some crochet (not much but some) i had mine made by crochet and a needle has not been near them since and im on month five 'recovery' i think...there was a LOT of unravelling but your hair needs to go where it wants to go...there will be fuzz and bumps and loose hair.i was paranoid what people would think and always wore a hat but one night i was dancin away with my hat off and i got more compliments that one night than the previous 2-3months combined :) a friend actually asked me how i had so LITTLE loose hair (she previously had dreads)the pics on your page show really lovely dreads...i wouldnt worry if i were you :)Karen

BS/ACV wash is not working for me

Dread Maintenance

hey :)For the first while i was really careful about the amounts i was using and the bs acv was perfect...but im bad at measuring and always forget how long its been since i washed my dreadies so i started getting itchy head and really bad dadruff (my friend said it was like a 6/10 on the 10 being super super bad scale)...Are you diluting the BS or just putting it on your head? i didnt leave mine in for any length of time...u should also be diluting the ACV...you dont say you are but i assume you are???I just started getting quantities wrong so i used some dr. bronners magic soap (that i have anyway) and rinsed with freezing water each time and in a week i went from 6/10 to 2/10...though i still dont get all the bronners out sometimes and i have to go in and rinse again...im just really lazy i think lolKaren :)

you'll be pummeled with rocks for daring to disrespect your dreads by cutting them
in turkey a new bacteria will be discovered that dissolves flesh turning humans o=into blobs of jelly it will reach an epideminc proportion and threatten to spread around the world
a week later a republican gains office in america and decides to nuke turkey to prevent the spread of the disease
but its too late a case erupts in london and within 12 hours 23 die
at the same time pakistani rebels take over a military base and steal 2 bombers 1 is shot down over american airspace and crashes into boston killing over 8000 people at a football game
the other sucessfully bombs a american military base in saudi arabia

meanwhile in london martial law is declared and the entire country is put under house arrest anyone setting foot outside theyre house is shot on site, 48 hours later the people rebel taking over the government in a swift and nearly bloodless coup

this triggers worldwide pannic

oh wait no i think i just made that up.. what will happen if you trim your dreads? they'll be shorter..what did u think would happen?

but..just in case it does trigger the end of the world i wouldnt trim them.. just in case.. why risk it right? its just a few split ends split ends were never the end of the world.. but if u trim your dreads..well u never know what might happen

(sorry when i dont sleep my brain goes on a strange journey)

Or go the easy way and buy a bar of Lush's "Karma Komba" http://www.lushusa.com/shop/products/hair/solid-shampoos/karma-komba which is a dread favorite around here. Might seem expensive, but one bar last me four to five months. I know it says that it is detangling messy hair, but that is crap talk when it comes to dreads... it sure didn't detangle my hair and all the dandruff was gone after one single wash. It might not be politically correct to use stuff like that around here.. but it works for me. =)

Ya...a Load is a LOAD LOL i think i just throw in too much...much more than 2 spoonfulls!...ill sort that out first :) Knottysleeves said:
Yeah, very possible that you're using too much. Exactly how much is "a load" of baking soda? ;-)

I only use about 1 to 2 spoonfuls of baking soda for 2 cups of water. I have a half-litre bottle that I use for my baking soda washes... I add a spoon or 2 of baking soda, a dash of sea salt, fill with water and shake until the baking soda is dissolved. Then I pour that over my head and let it soak for a minute or two.

Same thing for the ACV... I only add a splash to the bottle and fill the rest with water, then dump it over my head.
