I have a pack of wooden beads. They have different designs on them. There are 24..although I might take 2 or 3..I just did my dreads twist and rip..and the beads look to be about the right size. How can I send them to you?

Dreading Methods

Haha well said! I was one day away from spending 200 bucks on salon dreads. This site and SE saved me just in time. I did twist and rip and I am pretty proud to say that I did them myself and not in some crappy salon. Spider Feet said:
I didn't spend money for my dreads but I think it was a good trade. It cost me my vanity and negative self image. =D

I now leave those things for people that have the patience for them.

Something has foiled my plan.

General Questions

Your hair doesn't make you beautiful. Listen to I am not my hair by India Arie..such an amazing song. Anyways..You will look great with dreads. I have never felt sexier. :)

Introduce Yourself

Hey..thanks for the request..anyways..your hair looks good to me. Kind of like mine before I started actually. I did twist and rip 2 weeks ago. Trust me..my hair was full of dye too. I've been dying my hair for 6 years. Finally letting my natural color come back in though now.

Almost 2 weeks..questions

Member Journals and Timelines

I did most of them myself and had a friend help with the back..she knows nothing about dreads at all and it was still super easy for her to do so anyone can help you really. Jenni Macnair said:
They look good. I've started natural way but looking at ur's from twist and rip i might be tempted to go that route too! Did you get someone to do it for you?

Almost 2 weeks..questions

Member Journals and Timelines

Hi guys..it's been almost 2 weeks since I twisted and ripped and everyone on here had said that they will get looser and unravel and then dread up how they are suppose to. Well thats fine and I have no problem waiting for the hair to lock up but..so far nothing is happening. The baby dreads look just how they did when I first started them.. if not better. There are a few loose hairs here and there but they certainly aren't unraveling or even close to it. I wash it quite often..about every other day. So.. my question is...do they NEED to unravel and dread up on there own? Or do you think they might just stay this way and lock right up how I did them? This question might be confusing haha I type how I talk I guess. Kind of all over the place. The pictures are from last night. Thanks :)

Dance?

General Talk

Oh awesome! How long did you take it for? I was wondering.. is it hard to learn it and be GOOD at it when starting at this age? Knottysleeves said:
You are NEVER too old! I didn't start ballet until my late 20s, and there were many in my class (it was an adult class at a professional ballet school) who didn't start until well into their 30s.

I probably wouldn't have appreciated it as a kid anyway. It's actually quite a mental workout as well as physical. I loved it, but had to stop a few years ago due to an injury. Which is really frustrating because I was only 6 months away from finally starting pointe training. :-(

Just a tip -- make sure to put the weight of your dreadbun at the top of your head rather than at your neck. Or make Princess Leia style buns on the sides. Otherwise it really pulls at your neck in certain positions.

Thanks! I hope so. I always have wished that I took dance when I was a kid and thought I was too old to start now..but a few weeks ago I was like.. Who cares how old I am..I just want to dance. Haha
