want the tips to dread

Dread Maintenance

you can easily blunt your ends by threading them into a tapestry needle, then using the needle to pull the ends up into the body of your dread.

Out of curosity which is worse?....crotchet VS. Backcomb

Dreading Methods

knottysleeves, every time you post something it makes me happy. I always agree with you because I have had the same experiences. I love how you always manage to say a lot in a clear concise way without attacking anyone.

Thank you for being awesome.

Out of curosity which is worse?....crotchet VS. Backcomb

Dreading Methods

most of my friends have crochet dreads and I can pull on them without them breaking off. Most of the people I know crochet them fairly regularly, and still have perfectly strong dreads. Maybe not as strong as natural ones, but they don't need to pull a bus with them so they don't care. Thay just like how it looks better.

Out of curosity which is worse?....crotchet VS. Backcomb

Dreading Methods

So he just deleted his own posts and left?I hate it when people post things then take them down. Follow through or don't say it. I also hate it when I am reading through a thread and all the sudden can't figure out what's going on.I don't understand why anyone gives a shit what the "name" of the method that started there dreads was. If you like your dreads, and you picked the method, WHO CARES.But yeah. Who knows these days.

Dreading Methods

crocheting seems to cause more damage.

It drives me a little crazy that there are threads with half an argument in them. Delete all the posts involved or don't delete anything. This selective deleting is making a lot of unnecessary confusion. It also looks like a game of favorites.

Results

Introduce Yourself

depends on your hair. I have a few natural dreads but they took over a year to really resemble dreads at all. Most people see results much faster from what I hear.

Pulling hair back

Introduce Yourself

you could put it up in a tam or tie it back loosely. Just don't do it all the time and always keep a close eye on them. I always have mine up for work, but I also back-combed so that may make a difference.

Soap/Shampoo Ingredients? good or bad

Dread Maintenance

SLS is more notably bad for your bloodstream/overall physical health then that of your hair.

I would save that soap for your mature dreads. My dreads are about a year and 5 months old and I use a handmade tea tree/rosemary soap every other wash. It leaves my dreads feeling soft, bouncy and smelling good, but if used every wash I think it would definitely leave some build-up and be too conditioning on my roots. I alternate it with dish soap, just to make sure I get any build-up out.
