My dreads are a year and 1 month old and other than my friend Alex helping me wash them in the beginning Iv been solo with them the 1st 2 months I had it in my head that I need wax or hair glue but that was not working ALL it did was make my pillow nasty and my forhead bumpy So I asked myself what makes a dread then I said what can i do to assist this dread process........SOoooooo i stayed away from high cost product and salons (how can you appreciate a dread that you paid someone to make)lol plus dreads are older than the salons ...dont need those folks.I had to examine my hair learn about it what makes it tangle what makes it str8in out what makes it stay put.WATER is the key element for me it cleanses and speeds up tangling....EVERYONE told me not to wash my hair but 3 months in I was washing my hair 2-3 times a week using black soap BUT I also maintained them by twisting them one at a time...Grab one twist it hold it at the end(dont let it go) while its still twisted and twist another the same way NOW you have 2 twisted dreads take a rubber band and put it around both of them NOW those 2 are banded and twisted as if your hand is still holding it tightly twisted..Keep twisting and adding more tighter dreads to the rubberband u mite need a scrunchy soon while u continue to twist and add... the added ones are drying in the form you put them NICE rolled dreads.when your whole head feels dry release them from the scrunchy they will look so good this is great for frizzies and dreads that wont stay together its good training for u to.
A friend twisting while you add is much faster
Start at the nape of the neck
use as many scrunchies, rubber bands as needed
If dreads are stickin up or has a crease from how the scrunchy was holding it jus hit it(the crease) with the blow dryer low heat dont over do it tho
Better out come when done on wet damp hair
Even better when you use your dread products while twisting
wax is not your friend its so hard on the bathtube anywayz
want them curly twist them until they twist into a ball then pull it loose it will be kinky curly if its to much curl turn the shower on on hot and let some steam not water hit them it will make your curls fall nice shake them dont over do it u will have to start over try bout 5 secs of steam shake if still to kinky or curly more steam
Here are pics of my dreads I took a pic of the crazy 1s today......... I took my own advice..jus cause someone has done hair their whole life dosent mean you should trust them with your hair they DONT KNOW YOUR HAIR
