twist and rip

Dreading Methods

I just did t&r method a little over a month ago my hair seems to be dreading nicely (it's ALL CRAZY) the video posted above by Vinny was a huge help, best I found. One important thing I found is not to make them to tight. The first couple I did took like an hour and a half (my hair was down to the small of my back) those are the only ones not showing clear signs of dreading! The rest took only minutes each. They had absolutely no problem staying in. But that could have been because my hair is so long, nonetheless I found looser is definitely more effective. Good luck! Oh yeah, I think the salt water rinse I have been using has been a huge help with my dreads:)

Hi and Thanks!

Introduce Yourself

Hi every one I just wanted to say thanks for all the great info I came across this site while researching how to create my dreads, I kept finding all this stuff about backcombing and wax, and it just did not feel right. this is a photo of my new dreadlings a couple days old and one week ago, I used the twist and rip method and will now leave them to their own journey. Thanks and love!

What's the weirdest question you've been asked towards your dreads?

General Talk

Immediately after I got my twist and rip done, 2 friends of mine and my mother asked if they were heavy, I just asked them back "which is heavier, a ton of bricks or a ton of feathers?"And on the subject of critters, My husbands mom had dreads and once got a centipede in them. She lived in New Mexico where the centipedes are really big, She had to cut it out, Spooky!!!!
