its understandable
thyme a handfull in a pot strain (u can simmer for 20 min to make it strong)
put in a spray bottle and spray on between washes
u can add some to the baking soda as a tea or oil (few drops if oil..no more then 10-30 max depending on how much baking soda mix u make

i got alotta hair so i make a gallon u can maybe use a cup or 2
i use 1/3 -2/3 cup b.s. to a gallon if u make a cup or 2 use a few tablespoons (2-4?)

Thx soaringeagle ill get all the gear tomoro dont have any thing at home to start with.Ok the thyme tea that u say is there a specific way to make it or just get some tyme leafs put it in a cup of boiling water, and the baking soda what mesure ments do u use?I was thinking of haveing my dreads more of a uniformed look. i was thinking of going for the twist and rip even thogh it damages the hair a bit, it wold be more uniform because im a engenier and have to look presentable... sorry SE i wish i could go allnatural like u.... soaringeagle said:
if you start natural you will preobly have dreads by your birthday if not your at least gionna have the hair section itself naturaly

start off with baking soda washes with theyme tea added and a thyme tea spray betweeen to reduce oiliness..extend the washes 1 dat past when u feel grungy till u reach a week about
use sea salt sprays to help dry the haor and get the texchture ready to knot
but rince that out after a few hours and dont use it every day
when u rinse just shake it out and leave it throw away your comb..as sections form just seperate sections from eachother so they dont grow togerher..if u wanna..add beads to sections,,it will help

Thx Blonde much apreciated ill try and find that Dr. Bronners in the shops...does the baking soda realy work? Blonde Dready said:
Thats awesome! u can start by stripping ur hair of the oils and perfumes put into it by the conditioners and shampoos u use by switching to non residue shampoo, such as Dr. Bronners. Or u can use the baking soda wash that Soaring eagle has provided =D. Then u have a choice, u can start ur dreads and give em a jump start with backcombing, or u can use the less damaging Twist and rip technique, or u can just go natural, whatever u choose just dont use wax. This site has alot of the techniques listed, so u should prolly do some reading. Welcome to the site =)

What is the best way to dread thin hair (wen i say thin i mean Thin hair)????

Dreading Methods

thats my bigest fear that it will look like i have bold patches specialy wen i get older and my hair ends up like my dads, he has a extremy thin head of hair.i was thinking of sectioning the dreads about 1" by 1" squares (and steggering them so it dosent have that corn row look) and the amount of hair that i get in my hand is a little bit thiker then a pencil and if i go any thiker it looks stupid, i wish i had thiker hair or more of it but thats what God gave me In a way i shoud be happy that God gave me hair at all lol. Charaxesdistanti said:
Well yes because my hair is really thin I knew once it dreaded if the sections weren't placed I'd probably have some spots that looked bald. My sections are fine but there is one in the back that is kind of wide at the root and just looks weird.

soaringeagle said:
?? what was wrong with the sectioning? hairs all crossed at tye rootrs? well twist n rip or backcomb u still section where u want to secyion not wwhere the hair wants to section itself
im guessing that even tho the backcombing failed it still pretty much followded the sectioning u did right?

u really cant go wrongh with sectioning uunless they are being criss crossed, or too big of sections

id think in thin hair it would bve extra important cause otherwise u can have gaps between
dunno tho mines extremely thick

Charaxesdistanti said:
I guess because I would have liked a better sectioning in the back. I don't mind how they look now but I would have just sectioned them better if I did it again.

soaringeagle said:
why twist n rip when they dreaded superfest naturaly after a failed backcomb?

Charaxesdistanti said:
I have super thin fine silky hair and my hair knotted up super fast. I initially backcombed then it all fell out and if I were to do it again I'd probably do twist and rip.
