Thank you very much for that answer! I had trouble finding another thread that was exactly what I was looking for so that you for that. The answer was very informative, however I admit that I do not wear dreadlocks for religious reasons, so, I mean is that kind of lying in my case? I guess it doesn't really maybe? Just curious, otherwise I will be fine at the interview I feel, I guess I'm always anxious about going into a job interview and they say "you know we have a mandatory dress/appearance code here" and being caught completely off guard.

Searching for employment with dreadlocks

dreads jobs employment issues

Hello,

I know this is always a widely discussed topic but I was recently let go of my previous job and and looking for new employment. I am 24 year old male with dreadlocks that are down to my shoulders that I've had for just about 2 years now. Needless to say, I love my dreads and don't ever want to get rid of them. I feel as though they are apart of me and I can't see myself any other way, they just work for me.

Anyways, so my concern is of course the fear of walking into a job interview and the employer saying "your going to have to cut your hair." I'm afraid of being put of the spot of making the decision of cutting my hair for a job etc etc and if it would be foolish of me NOT to cut my hair. As I already previously stated, I don't want to and I never really do. At the same time, I feel a sense of weakness/shame in the idea that my dreads can be 'that' important to me, and I'm not sure if that is right to feel. I feel people around me say and would say "its just hair, whats more important?" But my ideal life and job would be one that would allow me to live life the way I wanted to live it. Would any of you be able to share with me the same anxiety? Would you cut off your dreads no problem or would you have anxiety about it? Am I just over-thinking this do you think?

And with all that being said, what are your suggestions with finding employment? What would be your suggestion of I came across an employment opportunity but they told me I had to cut my hair and I didn't want to? I appreciate all your help, any guidance is welcome.

rot knot dreadlocks mold and mildew cure

Dread Products

Hello! I came across this thread and was wondering the if the rot knot mildew cure had been added to the online shop yet? I would like to try it out just to make sure there is no mildew growing in my dreads, Im not sure how to check, but I would like to use this product to make sure that my dreads are mildew free. Where can I order this product if it is available?

Is ketoconazole shampoo 2% safe for dreadlocks?

Dread Products

My doctor didn't tell me to use it over any specific amount of time, I figured it was indefinite. The tea tree rosemary did seem to be doing the trick even before but I guess I just want to be completely rid of having the issue as long as I can help it. I havent had any scalp break outs or dandruff since i started using the tea tree rosemary but even more so since I started this prescribed stuff. I just looked at the ingredients right now and it does say it contains sodium lauryl ether sulfate. So does that mean I should stay away? I hope Im not ruining my dreads or developing mold from residue (I hope not?). I have been noticing recently that I keep catching a wiff of a scent of what smells like b.o. (dont mean to be gross) every now and then and am always questioning whether its coming from my hair or not. Perhaps since the SD is being tamed down I can sweat naturally and more now and thats where the scent is coming form? Just an idea, not sure if that makes sense. I think Ill stop using it now just to make sure.

If the tea tree rosemary bar doesn't help on it's own and you truly need medication, only apply it to the scalp and not the dreads. Ketoconazole is an antifungal medication that prohibits fungus from growing. Usually it is prescribed to be used over a 2 week period of time (did your Dr. tell you to use this for any length of time?) The only thing that I can think of that may happen from using this is that it may make your scalp oily.

Is ketoconazole shampoo 2% safe for dreadlocks?

Dread Products

My doctorconfirmedthat I haveSeborrheic dermatitis and she prescribed me a scalp shampoo; Perrigo Ketoconazole Shampoo 2%to apply 2 to 3 times a week to rub on my scalp and leave in for 5 minutes and then rinse. I have been using it for about 2 weeks and after I rinse that out I use Buck's Tea Tree and Rosemary bar soap (which works awesome btw) over my dreads just to be sure everything is cleaned out. Theketoconazole doesnt have a scent but I just want to make sure its safe to use and im not ruining my dreads by accident. Is the routine Ive described with the follow up cleaning with the bar soap a good idea? Any input is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Yeah I read your discussion about DHHQ and I was very surprised. I ordered the Tea Tree Rosemary shampoo, and you think this is the only thing Ill need for my problem? Just want to make sure all my bases are covered. Thank you!
