What am I doing wrong?!

Dread Maintenance

I do smoke and live in a city - I already make sure my dreads are really dry first. I will look for a NO residue shampoo though, instead of "Low residue"

Thank you guys :)

What am I doing wrong?!

Dread Maintenance

I ad to take out my first set of dreads, because they became full of lint from a new towel. I now let them air dry, I wash them with BS, sometimes salt and essential oils, and once amonth use a low residue shampoo (a pea sized amount watered down).

however, i took apart a dread the other day, to check that nothing was wrong, and there was still some like, black fluff inside, like build up...? I am scared that I am doing something wrong, why are my dreads holding dirt like this? Or is this normal? :/

hair loss and dreadlocks!

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

Thanks guys - I don't really do "maintenance" - onc my dreads are in I leve them to it - I can't do natural again this time, just because my confidence is shot without my dreads. I need something dreadlooking, I know this sounds strange but I have had such bad self confidence my whole life, and my dreads gave me confidence, and I want them back so bad haha :) Thanks for the advice though :)

hair loss and dreadlocks!

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

I had to take out a set that got a load of towel lint locked up inside, they were starting to go really bad, so I took them out. However, I have lost a lot of thickness in my hair. I want to put a new set in as soon as possible (mainly because I look stupid without my dreads). If I make up my dreads pretty small, will they thicken up over time as my hair grows back? Or will I have hair this thin forever now? :S

Opinions - proffesionals?

General Talk

I work in a cafe, so I have them wrapped up - despite my boss being female, these responses did make me grin again.

I've found having my dreads done up so much when they are - as i affectionately call them - babies - makes them grown in that direction, and they refuse to lie flat. I ended up re doing quite a few simply because they were ridiculously huge at the base and pulled themselves apart. However, now they've settled down a little they look way better! :) Thanks fo rthe advice about it - I love my crazy dreadies :)

Opinions - proffesionals?

General Talk

I was at work the other day and my boss told me I should undo my self-sectioned dreads and get them done professionally and "properly"...

I thought my dreads were fine on their own. I've already undone and split some sections that turned out too big, or too wide for the dread to form up properly. I have 44ish dreads, all sections according to where my hair WANTED to go. Like i said, some were wrong, which I have fixed. They're all differnt sizes and shapes, and I was very proud of them. Now I am feeling really insecure that my dreads are wrong because they arent all regimental!

Am i right to feel pretty offended, or should I really have got them done proffesionally? :/
