The straightness!

General Talk

A month later, pretty much all the sections that "were."
Are no longer existent other than that they exist as STRAIGHT HAIR.

All beads seem to do is condense the lock it's on and then the bead finally slips off and the strand will straighten out over the course of 2-3 days of the bead being off.

Went out and bought a 1mm crochet hook, tested it on 1 lock/section. That section as well is already working it's way out lol.

This is maddening, i have no clue what to do.
The slightest bit of progress will ease the tension of me wanting this to happen.
But nothing will happen other than my hair is just growing......straight.

I've followed pretty much all tips and advice, aside from BS paste and wraps.
What is going on here?
My excuse before was my hair isn't long enough. My hair is definitely long enough now.
Is it the silk pillows I'm sleeping on? Is there such thing as "too much water," rinsing/washing?
Am I not rinsing well enough? Do I need to try a different shampoo altogether.
Like really, what is causing my hair to NOT lock?
I haven't brushed it in almost a year, hardly touch it aside from to see how the sections are doing.
Again, this is maddening.
I've been forced to be patient my entire life. (not anexaggeration, certain situations in my life usually leave me in a "stasis," forced to be patient)
But this, this is all new patience. AGAIN, MADDENING.
>.<

General Talk

Don't know if my hair is progressing or regressing.
A lot of it has straightened out as expected.
But a few sections are keeping me holding on to hope.
I don't even care if it's just a few for now, i'm just becoming a sad panda waiting.

Yes, I realize it isn't over night, but with 9 months of neglect under my belt, i would have thought my hair would have done something other than..grow hah :(

Anyways, here is a day after washing.
(Sea Salt Rinse for 5 mins..head started to itch :/)
Rinsed with BS solution for wash for 15 mins (head itching not as much now)
rinsed with cold water and shook very lightly for a few seconds here and there. then let drip dry, all looked promising until a few hours after when they were almost 100% dry.

this is today. the day after the wash.

Here a few beaded sections.

and here is one of few sections that isn't beaded that looks........decent, i guess.

/end sad panda post.

Will do a sea salt spray/rinse tonight or tomorrow during a shower, let it sit for say..10-15 mins, then rinse with a BS wash, followed by cold rinse to get the BS off.
Hoping you guys are right, in that it's looking a little better.

updates soon:p
thank you

A few days later, and one hair wash down. Most of the sections have flattened/straightened back out.
If anything I'm due for a wash today or tomorrow, but have a feeling what is left, will just get washed out.

Here is a few pics of what it's looking like now.

General hair.

Here's teh beaded section, do I leave the bead up high where it started?
or move it down lower on the section like in the second pic?

here's just a random section that decided to stay.....for now.

any input? i would love for my hair to continue to mature/lock up.

Here is a pic of the beaded one I did.
Although you say TnR'ing is counter-progress, I re-tnr'ed it, because my hair wasn't really progressing in the first place.

As I said I'm going to start washing my hair over at my GF's house w/ soft water and the mixture of bs 1/2 cup to 5 cups. (or paste)
hopefully see some progress.

this is the beaded one.

and this is some of the progress i've made on the rest of my head so far.

Thank you for the criss cross demonstration, excuse me if the question has already been answered.
I watched the video, with no sound however.
What type of..string/wrap is that?
I've stopped using ACV all together for the past month or so.
I'll definitely look into the BS Paste.
I'm going to start just washing my hair at my girlfriends house. She has soft water so i'm hoping that will help.

Just to be clear, since every where I read is a different answer.
For baby locks, what is the best ratio of BS-Water for Soft Water?

and here is my hair now, as you can see still no progress.
completely neglect for 9 months now. about 4-5 of those months i've had "long," hair.

I will even get out of the shower, and for the 1-2 hours my hair drip dries, they look sectioned and promising.
about an hour after that my hair looks completely straightened out as seen above.

also im not sure im understanding the knot thing.

take a TnR section and then split seperate it in the middle? (at the tip of the middle of the lock?)
or just take a section of straight hair, tie a knot and then TnR?

The criss cross link sends me to a watch, lol.

Could something like hard water being halting my progress?
I definitely have hard water and up until today I was just pouring BS into hard water from the shower head.

Last night I boiled some water and put BS in it, noticeably different feeling.
but the only problem is getting it rinsed out. Since I have to boil water, I have a set amount to use. I've spent the last 3 hours rinsing my hair cause I have to keep boiling water, waiting for it to cool, then rinse. but each time I'm done, my hair still feels slick like BS is in it.

Alright so 2 months later..
I've completely stopped using ACV.
I used a mix of 1/2 cup bs 1tsp seasalt to 8oz of water. mix it up. then pour half of what i use in a cup, and fill the other half with warm water. (since its cold after sitting out)
let that sit in my hair for 10-15 minutes and rinse thoroughly then let airdry.

I've stopped wearing hats/beanies all together.

I don't play with my hair, rub my fingers through it, or anything.
And it just keeps coming undone and straightening.
If I twist n rip, no sections stay. but none come back. EVEN BEADED.

I'm at a loss for variables that could be 'stopping,' me.
I know I have hard water, does that play a key role in anything?

I won't wax, I won't use product or anything like that.
But TnR doesn't seem to work for me, is there a start method that is a little more sure-fire?
