Washing dreads.

Dread Maintenance

Hello so i have a question about washing my dreads.

I usually wash them 1 time every week. but it seems after i wash them they seem allot looser then how they were before i did is this normal? im not scrubbing my dreads im just putting the soap and gently rubbing the scalp. they're not falling apart just dont feel as tight.

3month dread update.

Dread Maintenance

Hello! its a little bit early my anniversary is on the 20th but i am really busy that day so i figured i do it a few days before hand!

On some dreads ive started to get some loops and zig zags yet i still feel that they're progressing rather slowly they havent shrunk at all either oddly. i have clumps of loose hair all over. i have done zero maitence and wash em once a week. Also i have allot of really skinny dreads over time will they grow fatter? if not is there a way i can encourage two to combine? its been a rough journey! im not to sure if my dreads are progressing fast or slowly for 3 months any input would be nice! :D here are some pictures!

washing/roots

Introduce Yourself

Hmm well my dreads are a month and a half old.. i never had that problem though. You might be rubbing the soap or shampoo in to hard. when i wash my hair i very gently massage it into my roots and scalp. just try being very gentle with them that might help!

Need information on dreads please !

General Questions

Well here, My dreads are about a month and 11 days old.

I've honestly done little to none maitence to them dreads are the most natural form of hair. you lose the natural feeling to them when you are constantly doing things to em to make em look good. an also the more maitence you do to them the more and more its going to need to be done it really isnt a hassle to swim or shower with them. just got to make sure they're dry. when u take a shower after u wash them (make sure its residue free soap) grab your dreads and ring em out. then put a towel over em for about 15minutes and then either air dry or use a hair dryer. an they wont grow all crazy if you leave them be they will just be unique. you will have dreads with some lumps and loops and zigs and zags it gives them a little more meaning :)

but yes for awhile your hair will look like a birds nest an all messy! but its well worth it in the end :D i just uploaded pictures of my dreads for my one month update. all natural pretty much (: an they're not that bad at all! :D have a fun journey (:

Dreadlock 1 month update!

Dread Maintenance

Well today i have had my dreads for one month! :) initially i backcombed them in. i haven't used wax or palmrolled or anything except spray with sea salt before i wash them once a week. In my opinion they seem to be coming along pretty nice! The back is horrid though i try not to look at it. allot of the dreads i put in back there have came apart. An its very hard to fix seeing how i cannot see back there! i have a ton of loose hairs an my dreads except maybe 5 of them are feeling pretty loose but im sure thats completely normal for the first month! My scalp has stopped itching. overall it has been already a crazy experience i've seen videos of people's 1 month dreadlock updates an theres all look realllly nice for one month an mine don't really so sometimes i have my days where i just dont even wanna look at em. but overall i am happy with them! i just wish i could get the back to start looking somewhat decent!

I am very excited for the next few months ahead :D

sometime later today i'll put up a picture of em so you guys can see!
