New to dreads and I need guidance.

General Questions

Like soaring eagle said, mix and match! if you want an example, you can look at mine. I have some that are an in in diameter and some only a couple centimeters. I ended up with 53, and now have 54 and I think another one is on the way

TnR timeline 1 year 2 months

General Talk

before dreads. (i love my hair knotty and straight)

day 1 (they look so silly now that I look back hehe)

one month ( i remember being so excited, but they just look like loose hair to me me now haha)

around four months is when they really started to take some shape in the back ^.^

six month mark was exciting, my dreads were starting to loop and kink :)

I went blonder at seven months.

nine months was a loopy time

I went silver at a year

and then here is now! back to blonde in preparation for pink :)

love my dreads :D hope you enjoyed my timeline!

no loops

General Questions

my hair seemed like it wasnt going to dread at all for like four months. but I had a fair share of loops. however, I did a friends dreads with t and r, and she only has a few loops at like 8 months old. She even said her oldest ones never got them all, whereas, I have more loops than not. I guess it just depends on the hair. idk.

slow maturing... hair type?

General Questions

This is most likely going to be so true when they do round out :)

From someone who likes that loopy phase, they look just fine. Trust me, when they finally mature and flatten out, you may start to miss those loops and bumps. They will flatten out in time, but enjoy it while you have them. Some of the bumps may stay, but many will go away leaving only texturedremnantsof what they once were.

slow maturing... hair type?

General Questions

So my dreads are about eleven months old and have been looping a little ever since like four months. However, recently, they have gone BONKERS. I mean, there are zig zags, loops, kinks, you name it in every one of my dreads and it is making the texture a little undesirably. Most people say that around this time is when they should start rounding out. Well Im just afraid that all these loops are going to be permanent. I know it's a part of the process, but the shrinking and everything has come so late in the game... that im freaking myself out. So, are they just maturing realllly slow? And also, is this typical for other people with naturally straight hair?

Mature dreads itching, but no apparent cause??

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

I am having this problem too!! my dreads are only a year and a half old, but Ive made my boyfriend check for lice three times in the past two weeks, and I don't have any dandruff. If I moved to a new area, do you think it could be the water I'm not used to?
