Help! Is this normal?

General Questions

I know my hair dissent like the way I sectioned it. I have some mmombos that seem to be grabbing hairs from the nearby smaller dreads. I also have a few tiny dreads that I just noticed are starting to appear. I'm just going to let it do what it wants to and I think it will sort itself out .

I can totally relate. Ever since I chose to dread my hair I felt my vibrations rise, and I feel more concious in every way. Next step....eating 100% raw! That way you get the vibrations and life force from the food!

raw food sounds so good. i would love to embark on that journey sounds like a great way to become a whole lot more healthy and fast

my dreads have raised my vibes

Alternative Lifestyles and Subcultures

iv never been one to follow in the footsateps of society or what many ppl of the world today seem to think. ever since i can remember i havedanced to my own rythem so to speak. anyway i just wanted to share with you guys a little something i have noticed since starting my dreads.i started them about 2 months ago and made a commitment for at least a year, that way i will know for sure if i want to keep em by then and realistically any time bafore that is not really long enough to know for sure. anyway i did dot start dreadding for spiritual reasons but woah can i ever tell you it is taking me in that direction.

about a year ago i became a vegitarian and i noticed the same thing happen, it raised my vibrations. i felt healthier my body was able to properly able to clear out the junk it was meant to and my digestive system started running smoothly. i was paying attention to what was going on in my body and i felt amazing. similar to my dreads i was only making a commitment for a short time and after i would resume my meat eating tendancies. but a funny thing happened, i started with chicken because its a lighter kind of meat well my body totally rejected it. i litterally got sick. i almost couldnt move it hurt my body so badly when i ate itafter being free of it for so long - just one piece of chicken.

when i did my hair in dreads i was misinformed but i wanted to do them in a way that was not going to hurt my hair.understand now that backcombing does hurt your hair a bit but definately not as much damage as a loctician would have done, also i am very glad to have avoided the wax - nasty stuff and i didnt feel it would be good for my hair anyway. i went with aloe instead.there were a few things that i promised myself when i did my dreads the first one is i will not cut my hair another is i will not dye my hair. i realize now that beforei dreadded i was ignorant to the fact that i was really hurting my hair more than i could ever know.you see before i did my hair this way i didnt care about the ingredients in my shampoo i also mucked my hair up on a regular basis with gels mousse hairspray curling ironsdying etc.......i never would have imajined it but i have formed a bond with my locks, i dont use anything with chemicals in it on my hair anymore and i am becoming aware of how detramental those things are to us even by being absorbed by the scalp. i must say that dreadding has raised my awareness and therefore my vibrations and is a stepping stone in my spiritual path that i never would have imagined or thought possible.

Is it ok to use straight vinegar on your locks?

Introduce Yourself

I have washed my hair several times since starting my dreads and I use soap. I also use aloe and cocanut oil with some essential oils sparingly. However I feel the need to get my hair completely clean. I see that alot of people are into the acv rince and also baking soda. I would like to try this to get my hair nice and clean however I don't have any acv so I was wondering if it is ok to use just white vinegar.

need some dread friends super quick

Dreadlocks Journey Emotional Support

i just started my dreads and nobody i know has em. all of my friends say i looked way better before i put it into locks but i begg to differ. i love my new found hairstyle and they are tightening up super quick too.i am one of these kind of ppl who never brushed my hair anyway. lol.my problem is i feel all alone, like everyone i know is trying to convince me that i will never find a decent job with them in and warning me that over time im gonna get bad dandruff or worse bugs or telling methat my hair looks like shit (i kind of expect it to look that way for a while until it matures a bit more anyway). im a little nervous about those things happening to my hair but it just feels so right to have my hair this way. im so very glad i found this site i hope i can learn what i need. anyone out there could use a baby dread head friend to take under their wing??

Introduce Yourself

lol. i backcombed. and i did it myself at home with thehelp of my sister.i almost got sucked into using wax too but it wasnt till after i put them in that i started doing my research. now that i know what i know, i think im just gonna let them do their own thing. i have been palmrolling up until now also but i just found out that it basically does nothing and takes all the cool bumps n notches out<*> dont really know if i like that idea either.

Aloe Vera

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

iv had my dreads in for about 2 months i use aloe religiously. after every wash i use it to condition. i did some research on the stuff and its one of the friendliest things you can put into your dreads and the best part about it is it will wash out easily with whatever soap you use(you can not say the same for most waxes and creams out there on the market). because its water based your hair will absorb it and it wont leave much of a residue. however you also need to wash your hair on a regular basis. leaving it alone for the first little while was probably a good thing however your going to find as soon as you wash it that it will tighten up conciderably

Hello all!

Introduce Yourself

hi im fairly new to this site as well as am i to dreading. i was almost convinced that waxwaz was a good idea the only reserch i did before i backcombed my dreads mostly led me to sites that sell those products and most of them said backcombing was the way to go. i decided to use aloe to calm down the fuzzies instead and im glad i did as it is natural and washes out easily. since i have worn my hair this way i toofeel a connection to my hair and want to keep it as healthy as possible and so i regret backcombing as it probly did some damage.

dread extentions are a cool idea i know not much about them but i would like to see what my hair would look like if it was longer. you seem like a cool chick :)

Global Rainbow Gathering of the Tribes - Beginning of the New Era

Alternative Lifestyles and Subcultures

This is truly amazing. It would be incredible to go to this gathering and experience it first hand. Something I just might have to do. I like the fact that they spend so much time afterward cleaning up and restoring mother earth to her natural state as much as possible. And the earth ovens very cool.
