lockin up liquid shampoo

Dread Products

it takes my hair a looong time. the two times i let it dread by neglect it took six to nine months to even resemble dreads and then at around a year other people were able to recognize them as dreads, lol. that's part of the reason i'm backcombing this time around! oh well it cant' hurt to have two scents. i might as well splurge now since I won't be buying anything else for my hair for a long time. once there mature i'll switch back to acv/bs again.

okay you twisted my arm i'm ordering some...

should one bottle be enough before switching to the bars or would two be needed to knot up enough before using the bars?

Does anyone know what is in this? http://shop.dreadlockshampoo.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=2

How exactly does it work to lock em up quicker/tighter? I use acv/bs once a week for the past many years and backcombed in some little poofy baby dreads yesterday. Today I sprayed my locks with sea salt and rosemary oil. This is what I've done in the past. If the locking up liquid truly makes it tighter I might invest in it but if it just washes and what not I don't think I can invest the money...

My fifth set of dreaddies is here!

Introduce Yourself

Thanks for the reply. I am hoping in two months these little poof balls will be tightened up a bit so I will no longer consider crocheting! As for twist and rip, I never think it really looks knotted up but instead tied kind of like braids, so I opted no to do it. I had a set with t&r once and some backcombed and after about six months the bc'ed ones really looked like dreads and the t&r ones only looked like dreads in the new growth and the rest kind of reminded me of braids... I could condition out my baby dreads since there only a day old and then twist and rip new ones in but I'm not convinced they will not up right after that. i guess I'll research on here a bit more before deciding...

My fifth set of dreaddies is here!

Introduce Yourself

Namaste,

I was sitting with my napping baby and my daughter brought a comb over to comb one of her stuffend animals and then left it behind when she wandered off to lala land. I ended up picking it up and combing away! Now I have about 55 poofy freshly backcombed baby dreads. I have had two partially backcombed sets before, one with wax that was my first set then another where some of them were twist and ripped. I did not exactly section them off as I only had my hands and a comb but I'm hoping they will look sectioned enough to appear professional in a couple of months, lol.

I am considering crocheting them to make them neater if they are still scruffy in another month or two. I feel so bad about it since I have had two other sets from neglect that were an absolute wonderful journey to accomplish. However I am older now and have to be more responsible and interview at a hospital when I move this summer and then will be in a very competitive program at a university that has a strict dress/appearance code. I don't mind the endearing fuzzy loopy phases that lead up to natural dreads but I am afraid that this time around it would not work for my situation.

For those of you who have professional careers and/or work in health care how do you keep up appearances? I will just allow them to knot up over the next two months using palm rolling and sea salt soaks. I have been no poo over a decade and only use acv/bs once or twice a week as it is. In the past I have used aloe vera gel (food grade) to smooth out mature dreads but never tried it with locks that were only two months old. Any suggestions on how to maintain a professional appearence without ruining my locks is appreciated.

Blessings,

Dreadlockshampoo.com locking gel question... and a comment...

Dread Products

I'm planning on trying out this gel too but the main reason I'm commenting is because I love your avitar, what a cute little wrapee. My son is in a rucksack right now while I rock back and forth surfing, lol.

Cheers

How does the liquid soap work with hard water?

I have been washing my hair with bottled water which seems like it will be a challenge now that I'm dreading it...
