Fine, Thin Hair & Locks

Introduce Yourself

i have very fine hair, and before finding this site i had my friend backcomb them for me. it got some knots started up, i have about 30+ skinny dreads... then once i got on this site everyone said to leave the dreads be, to just ignore them other than washing every few days.. some have come a bit loose but i'm not too worried about it, just gives the dreads character :) now i am doing the neglect method and can't wait to see how they turn out naturally with time

yeah the wax is out, so I'm all good there. i know, patience is a virtue, they just look messy but I'm over it. just letting nature take its course. some are starting to come together at the roots so I've been separating them

well, i took everything out and have washed once ever 3 or 4 days... the locks are becoming a bit loose and I've been doing my best not to mess around with them too much. just bummed they are a bit loose :(

Entering week2...

Introduce Yourself

Hey guys! i'm amanda, I'm entering my second week of having dreads. my friend back combed them for me and after doing some research on this site i decided to just let them do their own thing. i only used wax one or two times and haven't washed my hair at all...well i used a dry shampoo spray on my roots to soak up oil and what not bc i can't stand that greasy scalp look. i also have the rubber bands to keep them together but whatever ones haven't already broke are going to be taken out this weekend. my dreads look a little frizzy now and i wanted to know what i could use to control them, or should i let them just do their own thing ? also, what are some good ways to tighten my dreads? they feel pretty good, but there are some flat spots in some dreads. also, i read somewhere that wearing like a knitted hat is good to keep the roots from staying too loose today? idk, I'm a dread rookie and any advice will be considered!
