is my hair too thin to look good with dreads?

General Questions

Yeah, make the dreads thicker then you think they should be, but your hair looks the exact same type as mine, and before I had dreads I too had a lot of worries about the possibility of failure, but trust me, they will turn out fine. And they will be yours :)

General Questions

Im not sure if this discussion has been cleared up, but my hair is as thin as yours (very nordic) and I actually found that it dreaded together easier then thick hair. When it comes to staying dreaded it didnt work out as well, but any hair can dread. I promise.

Dreads threatening to fall off

Dread Maintenance

Thats what I figured everyone would say. Maybe that dread just didn't feel right about being attached to me. Thanks!

Dreads threatening to fall off

Dread Maintenance

Im sure this has been discussed somewhere, but Ill bring it up again

One of my dreads all of a sudden started breaking off at the root and after a few weeks it was hanging by a single hair. This dread was quite a bit older then the others, so I'm worried that the others will follow suit after some time. I don't use products and I just seperate them and palm roll them everynow and then. I would just like to know if there is a usual cause to this. I would really like to not have to shave my head. Thanks

Thanks to this site and all you lovely people

dreadlockssite appreciation

I live in Holland. (no, not Amsterdam) I moved here alone and started dreading in the first month. I live in the east of the country so it is a bit more conservative and dreadlocks aren't common, and if they are seen, they are ridiculously tight and unnatural, because everyone goes to a hair dresser or gobs wax or other bad stuff into their locks.

So of course I got a lot of flak for how I looked and I was thinking of buying wax to make it go faster, and I one point I considered cutting them off.

But then I discovered this site. And I remembered why I got dreads. Its not for other people, it's for me, and I want to have dreads that are full of love and patience as opposed to synthetic goop and bad energy. So I say thank you. To dreadlockssite, and to whom ever happens to be reading this.

Much Love To All

Dreadlocks at school??

Life Issues Facing Dreads

Just to be the devils advocate, I went to an american high school, and while I didnt have locks at the time, all of my friends did. While the school could do nothing about it, they could still make life pretty hard. They would always search us for cigarettes and drugs, and they told people in the police department to pull us over whenever they could.

I encourage you do get dreads because you have to be your own person regardless of what bullshit people throw at you, but just be aware of the consequences it will bring from a conservative system.

Why is it so difficult?

Dreadlocks Journey Emotional Support

For me personally, I like that having dreads cuts down on your options for women. If they cant get over your hair, then they probably aren't someone you wanna date anyway. And there are plenty of really cool women without dreads. But the dreads to make them oh so much sexier :p

phatties or skinny dreads?

Dreadlock Styles and Dread Styling

Mine are ridiculously skinny (most are around 5 mm) and I kinda wish they were a bit fatter. I have a few big ones and they lock up way better. But that's how they turned out so that's how they wanna be.
