Fretlocks To Dreadlocks: Freeform Timeline.

Member Journals and Timelines

I started my journey before i found this site, but i would like to start cataloging my progress here as well. My dreads have been a very slow going process due to me fretting and hindering them in the first year, but now that i have calmed my anxious bum down they are back on track!

I use Vicki's shampoo bars and Himalayan spray.

Treatment for hard spots

Dread Maintenance

I definitly rinse everything well, usually try to bunch up the ends so they get a little more water too (5-10 minutes sounds about right). To make sure all the shampoo is out i do a hand scrub check over my scalp and dreads for any left over suds.

Treatment for hard spots

Dread Maintenance

thank you for this post! I'm over a year into natural dreadlocks and have the same problem, except they are hard on the ends. I had bum-length hair in the beginning and the ends locked up, fan style, a little quicker than expected. Well those ends are now super firm while the middle is soft babydread like, and the roots are lose. I feel like this is hindering the dreading process since nothing can move anymore... i only use Vikkis no residue shampoo and charcoal bars, and they don't seem dry or built up in the least bit, pretty healthy for former fret-locks actually, haha. This post really cleared some anxiety, thank you!
