2 1/2 months natural dreads starting to drive me crazy!!!!!

General Questions

It's usually wavy and very fine. I think it's just hard to let go of doing anything to it. Just think, shitty looking hair for a year or so, then beautiful locks for life!! I will not give up!!

General Questions

Thank you all for your words. This is the first I've heard of over separating, so maybe I'll back off of that for awhile.

2 1/2 months natural dreads starting to drive me crazy!!!!!

General Questions

HELP!! It's been about 2 1/2 months since I brushed my hair. I use Dr Bronners to wash a few times a week and separate the babies once or twice a day. I think that I have reached the rat's nest stage, and it is driving me CRAZY!! Sometimes I feel my hair and just have to sigh to myself....it just feels like a ratted up mess around the nape of my neck. HOW LONG WILL THIS LAST?? I'm starting to understand why this is called a dread journey, because it is testing me in so many ways. Words of encouragement, a little advice, maybe your personal story, it would all be so helpful. I'll attach a few photos at 2 months. Thank you all so very much!! PLUR

About 6 weeks in...got a couple of questions.

Dread Maintenance

First off a little backstory: I did a few dreads by twisting and ripping around the nape of my neck. Then I decided to just go with the natural method and stopped brushing my hair about 6 weeks ago. I seperate and rip them apart maybe once or twice a day, and wash my hair using Dr. Bronners. So here are my problems: 1) I went from living in a humid to a dry environment and my scalp is itching SO BAD!! I got some lavender oil, but I'm not sure how to use it for it to be most effective, or if there is a different essential oil that I can use that will work better. 2) I have 2 dreadies that are combining near the root that I really don't want to do so. They are now trying to pull in loose hairs into the (what wants to be) huge congo. HELP!! I don't want a beaver tail!! Thank you guys so much. Seeing your posts inspires me to keep up on my journey.
