Patience

Introduce Yourself

So the other day I was at an open mic playing an acoustic set and I met this man from Africa with awesome dreads that he had halfway tucked up in a tam. He looked over at me and said "How old are they?" I was caught off guard and it took a second to figure out what he was talking about. After realizing what he was referring to, I told him the age of my dreads and how it was taking a while because my hair is pretty straight and how people had been telling me that they were gonna fall apart and how they weren't gonna work. He confidently told me "It takes a long time man. Patience. That's all it takes. When people start talkin' negative, you just stop listening."

So I think that goes for all of us. It's your hair. Your journey. When ANYbody says ANYthing negative to you about your hair (even if they're trying to be smart about dreadlock knowledge and telling you what to do to your dreads) just ignore them.Unless they are giving friendly advice in a polite way and acting through love. Otherwise, they have no right to tell you what decisions to make and they definitely shouldn't be rude or bring you down about making the wrong decisions. That's not what peace and love it about. It's about being compassionate. Not being a jerk by telling people why they're wrong.

General Questions

I had the same problem and I discovered that it would build up after using the BS. It was mostly likely from not rinsing well enough and having left over BS buildup on my scalp. I have since then stopped using BS and only use natural Tea Tree Oil shampoo and the Dreadlocks Shampoo. Since then, my scalp has been super healthy and no more buildup. I still have flakes, but that's to expected every once in a while if I don't scrub my scalp well enough with the tea tree oil. Plus it smells so much better. I HIGHLY recommend the Dreadlocks Shampoo that isadvertisedon here.
