Dreadshampoo alternatives!

Dread Maintenance

Thank you so much for your help everyone. I guess the benefit of the shampoo bars is that they won't explode in transit! :)

I didn't know that about castile soaps! Everyone always raves about the Dr Bronners! x

Dreadshampoo alternatives!

Dread Maintenance

Thank you Patience :)

Finally received my dreadshampoo order, but customs had obviously messed around with it, because the cap for the bottle of shampoo was crushed, literally! And all the wrappings were disloged. It had leaked all over the bag! :( so upset and angry at customs. Not only did they charge me, but I lost lots of the product too! So sad because it seems really nice and smells gorgeous.

I should mention that I can't use Dr Bronners, because the tocopherol is derived from soy and I am allergic! (how awesome is that?) x

Dreadshampoo alternatives!

Dread Maintenance

Hi everyone :)

I recently ordered shampoo and locking gel from the dreadshampoo website, but I was charged a fortune for customs (I am a UK citizen!) and ended up spending just over 40 for the 2! :( I am so annoyed, because I have heard so many good things about the shampoo and I really wanted to be able to use them regularly, but I just can't afford it! Obviously I will use the bottle and the gel up, but I was wondering if anybody in the UK has found an alternative product that is good for baby dreads and/or will help the locking process? Mine are about 2 months old.

I have found several places that sell shampoo soap bars, but I have heard they are better for mature dreads (?) I will be using baking soda regularly too, but I wondered if there was an alternative to the liquid shampoo from dreadshampoo that I could use every so often.

x

Thank you so much for the replies :)

SE how often would you recommend using the gel? I am ok with how my dreads look and feel as they are, but I want to help them along a little.

Princess Kay, I'm UK too! :D woo!

Thanks for your reply,

Yeah I know, figured they would loosen up a bit before tightening each time :) I love them all messy and loopy like they are now, but I want to scrap the lush anyway because it seems to leave some residue behind too.

Introduce Yourself

Hi guys, hope everybody is well on this day!

I have finally managed to order some dready shampoo from dreadlockshampoo.com! :D so psyched! *thank you pay cheque!* I went for the liquid shampoo (dragons blood, yay) and the locking gel - cause my baby dreads still seem quite prone to slipping. I have been using lush shampoo bars (the green one) but my hair always seems to end up too moisturized, and I have lost several babies because of this, so I thought I'd go for the liquid soap, as everyone on here seems to be raving about it! :) I also alternate with baking soda, green tea and essential oils every so often.

How often do you guys use the locking gel? Is it simply a case of smoothing a bit on when needed?

(My dreads are still very very young, just over a month old! Twist and rip method).
