trusting a loctition to tell you the trurth was a bad idea theres 1 in englanndthat thinks dumping a bucket of black liquid latex (yes rubber) over blond hair then forming the sticky messes is the best way to make dreadlocks

Welcome. I'm sure Eagle will drop his 2 cents, but I'll get started. Salons are notorious for destroying locks. They use destructive methods like crocheting, wax, gels, creams, and yes... interlocking. Interlocking does extreme damage to your hair. It create extreme weak spots, and can cause locks to snap off in places.

If you want whats best for your locks stop going to a salon. Try and get your money back. But most likely that won't pan out. But definitely stop going. They aren't taught ho to grow healthy locks.

welcome im soooo glad you found us

you see wax is pure evil in dreads regular wax is even worse ad much harder to remove

i see baba told you a bit about wax so ill get into twisting..if u keep twisting he will need a hair transplant by 15!

twistinv is why theres an epidemic of traction alopecia and balding in the black community you think there shouldnt be hair covering the scalop..so soon there will be no hair growing from the scalp the gaps between dreads gets wider and wider the dreads thinner then fall off andu have widesopread balding

2 years in the damage shouldnt be too secvere so just remove the wax with wax b gone and stop all twisting completely

then just wash 1-3 times a week with a dread shampoo and they will be awesome

Welcome. I assume you mean "wax", not "was".

Ok, first, you need to get the wax out. Wax is the main cause of locks to grow mold and rot off. A best case scenario, wax prevents locks from ever maturing. Because of the sticky properties of was, it prevents knots, loops and tangles fromoccurring. Without knots and loops, his locks won't mature past the first day you put the wax on. They will always stay 1 day old. And because wax is a hydrocarbon, it will NEVER wash out in normal soap and water. Hydrocarbons NEED a detergent to clean them out.

The worst case scenario, and a very common one, is that whatever moisture and water that do get into the locks will get trapped there. As this water sits, it becomes stagnant and begins to decompose organic matter. This includes hair. In a very short time (weeks-months), his hair begins to grow mold/mildew and can start to rot. The wax prevents it from falling off because it is sticky, and holds to to the hair that hasn't completely rotted through.

Now that I'vesufficientlyscared you about wax, there is a way to get it out. Dreadlockshampoo.com sells an outstanding wax remover. If you don't want to spend the money, that's ok. Dawn Dish Soap is a good detergent. It can be used to clean out wax. it takes more sessions. And more effort. But it works pretty good. If you want a detailed explanation on how to use it, let me know, or check out the dreaducation page.

Now to get away from wax, I have to warn you about twisting and retwisting locks. Locks should NEVER be retwisted. This leads to a condition called Traction Alopecia. It's when too much torque is put on the roots and scalp. It leads directly to premature baldness. If you can see the scalp in between the sections, that is a sure sign of balding:
