I had the same issue when my children were small. I cut my first set because of the gross factor, I waited until they were teenagers before I started growing my dreads again. I wish i had known then about rubbingalcohol. I am still paranoid. If I am going to go somewhere that I have to sit in public (theater, doctor's office ....) I put tea tree in my hair. It won't kill bugs but it will keep them away :)

Also.. try doing your laundry and such WHILE the treatment is on your head... that way you don't have adults jumping back onto you after your treatment is rinsed out.

I just wanted to say thank you for this information last night my best friend discovered he was infested with lice and cut off his dreads. I am pritty sure I have it due to the fact that he has been staying at my house, and I have been having a unusually itchy scalp but I just thought it was cause of my lazyness this week and not washing my hair.but even after a good wash I'm still itchy. I was terrified that me and my boyfriend would have to cut our dreads off. This is my 3rd dread journey the first one ruined by wax and the second time my hair was to damaged from bleaching. I would be devastated if the 3rd time was cut short by lice.
