She wants to start the dreadlock process now and when her hair grows out more cut the permed hair. Which sounds good enough but her hair isn't dreading. So shes opting for interlocking. What would be a better substitute for her permed texture???

interlocking would be a mistake if shes black then try twists or me more patient or add beads beads will helpif white trwist n rip or backcombor beads

Twists don't work even in black hair if the hair it has been permed. It messes with the structure of the hair. I've had Dreads for like 2 years now, started with the twisting method, and the 1 1/2 inches that were permed still haven't locked. I was rocking an afro before the dreads, and I permed it to make the 'fro "puffier". Now I wish I didn't, but no way i'm cutting it off. To me, its part of my journey.
