Hi,

I am curious. Do new dreads get thinner? I guess when the start to tighten? I feel as though mine are not as thick as they used to be. I just wanted a confirmation that this is normal. They are at most 7 months old.
Thanks guys!

umm typicaly thinning is caused by agressive maintenance ots not a good sugn ..however.. backcombing can cause them to be "poofy" at 1st and they can thin as they tighten but generaly they should thicken as they mature ,,not thin

causes of thinning are commonly

twisting

interlocking/root flipping

crocheting

root rubbing and or palm rolling

That's the thing though. I haven't exactly done anything to them. It's not a huge difference in thickness but a noticeable one. They feel tighter than they used to be though.
