Qs about dreading fine asian hair

So ive decided on starting my dread journey. Ive done my research & know that asian/fine hair are one of the more "difficult" types of hair to dread. Im really debating on some options & just really need more helpful information about dreading this type of hair.
Info about hair (if changes anything)

  • Thin/fine
  • alot of volume naturally
  • Havent been washing with conditioner for awhile now
  • mohawk about 3-4 inches wide about 5 inches tall.

To the Qs

1) What method would be best for this type of hair?
2)I have started the "twist n rip" method for the first row above my eyes but can always untangle it. should i continue with this method? (time is not a problem)
3) the base is a bit loose. is that a problem? or is it normal? healthy or not? (about half an inch from the base is a loose twist but after that half inch the hair is knotted/locked up pretty good.
4) My thin hair makes it really difficult to knot of the tips. Any helpful advice for making the process easier for the tips?
5) Would the early stages of the dread process affect me trying to get a job? what do most people think of this?
6) is it healthy to leave elastic bands at the end of the tip?

7) I love to skateboard & go to the gym thus making me sweat quite a bit. will it affect the growing process? will i have to wash my hair more often?

im sure ill have more questions after some of these are answered. keepin it to a minimum for now/

Im really trying to get this dreadhawk goin due to school startin in few days & im really committed for this journey since i just shave my hair every year. really wanted to do something new with it. Thank you dreadies in advance.

1) Natural is the best, then twist and rip, then backcomb. That's generally the order it goes in; if you want to twist and rip, go for it, but only do it the once. If it loosens up or comes undone, leave it, it'll dread up on its own.
2) Same as number 1.
3) The roots will always be loose. As your dreads mature, it'll minimise to about half an inch of undreaded hair, but it's normal. You don't want to force tightness in your dreads; if your hair is too tight, the hair won't be able to move around and tangle, therefore, won't be able to dread. If it's too tight, your hair loosens up so it can then dread. So let it be, that's really the best thing for it.
4) The tips sometimes stay loose and wispy, and sometimes blunt. It depends on the individual dread. Most of mine have blunted themselves, but some have stayed loose. Just let them do their thing. Blunted dreads take much longer to dry anyway.
5) Very hard question to answer. Depends on what kind of environment you live in. Some people might have a problem with it, some might love it, others in-between. Most likely it'll be OK though, keep them tied back (loosely) to keep them looking tidier for work. Only during work though, you don't want them to be tied back too much.
6) No. Elastic bands constrict movement, therefore, it slows dread progress. Not to mention, they can get eaten by all the hair and end up rotting because of you washing with elastic bands in your hair. Don't worry about the tips coming loose, they'll do their thing :)

7) I'm not sure about this one, so I'll wait for someone else to answer this.

Ive got a couple more questions if you dont mind.
1) How often am i gonna have to wash my hair? Ive read up that you may wet your hair when showering but not too much. I was also told to use lemon juice? Can you give me more information about that?
2) I put elastics at the end due to the whisp (already answered) & also to keep it from getting into other dreads. Should i not worry about that & just let it be?
3) Ive been told sectioning them in squares in rows will make them look ugly or when they grow you will be able to see where i sectioned them. Is that true? Would it be better to section randomly? Different thickness?

the fastest dreading i ever saw was asain hair (longer though) it dreaded in hours over night into massive dreads in just 8 hours

asain hairs no harder to dread

1 naturals best for any hair type but u need another inch tnr is next best

2 if times not an option then go natural

3 base will be and should be loose for many months it will get looser still hence why 6 inches is recomended

4 leave the tips loose and to do as they please

5 a mohawk will afect the job search more then dreads will

6 nooo take out the bands now

7 wash whenever u want just not every day

would baking soda alone with water be a good enough wash for my young dreads?
& i was also wondering since i have school. & wearing a beanie is strictly regulated, i am caused to tie my hair back with elastic bands. i put them on the loose tips. so during school they're roughly there for about 6-7 hours. will that affect my dreads? after school hours are done i immediately take off the elastics since im just home most of the day.

hey dude, I've got the exact hair type as yours... and yes, it takes forever to form dreadlock in our type of hair if you choose the neglect method. All you need is great great patience.. I've been on this journey for fourteen months now and if you wanna know the progress, it is as same as the other people with 4 months. All you need to do is just don't give up. or you can backcomb or tnr if you wanna make it a little bit faster and then go through neglect method again (i wished i did that before because it's so slow process but i don't regret too..). and about the loose tips, most of my baby dreads have 3 to 4 inches of loose tips, one dread even has about 5... i wish they dreaded too but let's see..

and I had one dread done with tnr method but the tips got loosened up. I've got about 3 inches of loose tips now. But the base is getting dreaded.
