Hair typically grows at a constant rate. The wax could be clogging your pores and making it grow slower. But how long have you noticed your hair not really growing? Locks go through stages, and as new growth tangles up, it makes your hair seem to not grow. This is more obvious around the 1 year mark. But it happens periodically all throughout the life of your locks

Hmm. Eagle way be the better one to answer that question, then. I've only had mine for about 7, and I have noticed periods where they seem to stop growing. But not years on end.

I am no expert but I agree that removing wax will lighten the weight on each dread. You could also potentially trim them up to the weak spots. That way you wouldn't be starting over completely, but still would be getting rid of some damage and starting fresh from there.
