Well basically I'm going to begin my journey and I'm using the braid method(if thats correct)? But I was just wondering like my title because I'm into the thicker ones. So yeah Im just wondering how long and how thick do you think the dreads will be when they're fully matured. This has been sitting in my head for nearly 3 and a half weeks just washed them before I took the pics...P.S. also I was wondering if there's any tips you guys can give me on thickening them

My dreads started from braids. I am over two years in and they are fully locked.

i haven't seen braids turn into dreadlocks.. soaringeagle has said he's seen it a couple times but they never really locked.

the hair needs to be loose to form knots. braiding keeps it stationairy which makes that impossible.. i could be wrong tho. anyone else have a second opinion?

If you want your locs really thick and juicy, combine them now. That's what I am dealing with.I have let a few of my dreads combine on their own and some I twisted together to make thicker since they were too thin to begin with for me. Also, your twists will condense a little as they mature so keep that in mind.

Well Idk if you've taken a look at my pics but do they seem really thin for starters? but anyways the sections for these roots are around half a inch if not more.

About a year. I wish I had good pics to show but my picture taking ability sucks. However, I know that some people's take longer than that.
