hi! ;) this is the first day of the natural method, I used baking soda to wash, how long before I should wash again, a week? It seems like if I were just doing a couple different things, I would have dreads now, but : I wash with conditioned shampoo (every day) and I keep my hair in a knot/ponytail thing every mintue except to sleep - I haven't been TRYING for dreads, I just absolutely hate hair dryers, styling, curling irons etc. (I used to use them often when i was young) SO, if I use the baking soda wash (less frequently) keep my hair loose as much as possible, in time it will dread? (I have thick, wavy hair) thanks so much for any tips, I do so appreciate it. So glad ot be here, I don't know one person in my small town who will "approve" of dreads, and I used to think I was too old to start, but I havfe found the older I do get the less I care what others think ;) So....it's time (I did try this YEARS ago, but gave up....not this time)

Have a great weekend!!

Trish

oh shoot, I'm sorry, one more thing. I've been to many different sites and I've read that the neglect method "too many things can go wrong" but I don't see what could go wrong?

Hey,! :)

I will try to answer you the best I can Tricia Micael. You should wash as many times as you wish but the best to dreadlock fast is 2 or 3 by week. Also you shouldn't make pnytail , let your hair natural without at or anything in it. Hats or ponytail will make it dreads slower. I also think you should'nt use so much normal conditionner that you mostly find in shop, because they are chimic and not so natural. SE will probably say you to condition your hair with vinegar rinse thats the best. Yes your hair are gonna dreads even if you don't think it will.

And many site say you that many things go wrong because they want you no to do the neglect method. If you woud, they won't be able to sell you their products.

Good luck I'm sure you're gonna be beautiful with your dreadlock hair :). It is the most natural and peacefullhaircut ever.

So I'm 7 days into neglect now, and it's been 4 days since i washed it.
so I thought id do it today since I'm starting to get itchy, I just want to make sure I'm doing it right.

I was gonna take about 1L of water whit 2 tablespoons of baking soda, then just pour it over my hair and let it be for about 30min , then just rinse it out by pouring water over my head , shaking my head and letting it air dry... I don't know if I should put some Rose oil or Lemon in the water I rinse whit ...
