i think of labels as a cheap way to point fingers. its rarely ever used accurately or in a positive manner.i get called a "hippie" a "dirty hippie" a "damn hippie" "dirtbag" (the list and peoples dirty looks go on and on) everyday.honestly i dont like to think of myself as pretending to be a part of someything that already happened (going back about 35 years, and considering those who were once called "hippies" themselves)by loving our mother earth, having dreads, drifting from festival to festival, not owning a bra let alone a pair of jeans (skirts are the way!) or a comb, and being spiritual, makes me a hippie?? no, it does not. it doesnt make me anything, except in touch with my inner being and helps me understand, and create. its the foundation of my happiness. and to think, people declare me as socially undesireable for understanding myself and my needs to persue happiness.i dont think dread heads, nature dwellers, or the acid head drop-outs in the world will ever unite and love like they once did, and i dont think the term "hippie" will ever disspear thoughout eras. sad that people from a totally different social 'group' got to name millions and millions of peaceful people. if it had to be done, why couldnt the mud people of woodstock do it or something? im sure it'd have a much cooler name. its sad but id rather not pretend to be a part of something i wasnt even alive for.and if they had to label what the "hippies" did 35 years ago... and today i guess, they shoulda used a better word. maybe the "free spirits" or "wanderers"...
