First of all I want to start with saying how glad I am I found this site. I've been wanting to dread my hair for over a decade. Stopped cutting it 4 1/2 years ago while I contemplated and researched. Finally a week ago I made my decision to start my journey and stop brushing. I want to go as completely natural as possible. But I am curious to know what everyones personal advice is towards keeping them clean?

And specifically if anyone has had experience using Trader Joe's Tingling Tree Tea Oil shampoo on their dreadlocks?

Hi Eliza, welcome to the site. There is great maintenance info on the dreaducation tab at the top of the page, recipes etc. I use the baking soda wash & apple cider vinegar rinse. Sometimes I add a few drops of essential oils into the wash.
