My name is James, my wife's name is Ashley. She had started dreads, and after 4 months in had to comb them out (the damage was bad) for a job. So she misses them alot and plans to re do them again in the future. But this time it was my turn to step up to the plate and to try them out.My past hairstyles have normally been instantly gratifying like green mohawks, or blue and pink spikes, or just a devil's lock. So adjusting to my hair not looking awsome when i want it to is a new test for me lolShe back combed them over two days (Sept. 28-29) and i've been washing with a 'residue free' shampoo one ever 3-5 days, for the first 2 weeks i was palm rolling 'twist and lock' gel into them but i have since stopped.Ashley made up a spray she had read about when she had them, a mixture of sea salt, water, tea tree oil and a couple drops of a scented oil to help with the over powering tea tree oil. (patchouli essential oil in my case)I've only used it twice so far but among my questions, i was going to ask your advice on it and if we should alter the mixture or how often it should be applied.I also saw mention of teas being made with rosemary and thyme, i looked of a thread on how to go about making these but didn't find one, any help would be appreciated.and lastly, while the middle of my locks seem to be knotted quite well, the roots did not take to backcombing at all, Ashley was considering re backcombing the roots to fix this (she did admit this would set back the knots in the middle though) and after reading comments in certain threads i am hesitant to do this. Thanks for any advice you may have,James

Just so you know it's normal to have a half of an inch to an inch of hair at the root of your locks so don't sweat it. I found that with time my roots locked up closer and closer to my scalp. Don't try to back comb the roots you'll only set yourself back and try to let them go... My natties are 100% natural and urned out just fine. Have a great week! James Gillim said:

Thanks for the replies! I don't have constant internet access so i normally only get on maybe once or twice a week.I had figured back combing again would be a bad idea so i think i'll just leave them be.I used to love rainy days now i hate them, like today cause i'm extra frizzy..and i can't do anything about it lolanyway thanks for the advice and the welcome!
