best way to start dreads ..stop combing wait for dreads

in shoert hair that can be lil slow cause it dreads as it grows

u can twist n rip at 4 inches many will fall out tho maybe then dread up naturaly anyway

longer hair dreads better so wether u tnr i=or go natural it will dread better when its gettint longer

Welcome!

Please do not use wax, do not backcomb or try any of those dodgy methods. You dont need to pay anyone anything to have amazing dreads. Read through the dreaducation and other discussions on this site, and you will find all of the information you need for beautiful naturallocs : )

dreads should be soft and flowing not stiff and sticky

dreads should be clean not have dirt trapped in gunk and they shouldnt leave pillows and clorthes coated in wax

wax destroys dreads its a huge mistake

I used wax once when I first tried to get dreads. I have now learnt better and wouldn't use it again. This site is very inspirational and has a lot of good information!

I started with the DreadHead HQ starter pack for dreads. It was overpriced, pointless and damaging. The wax ruins dreads, Soaring Eagle is right!

exactly you spent 70 dollars to accomplish what u could accomplish by losing a comb and not spending 70 cenbts to replace it

Thanks heaps yer I saw the starter kits and wasnt prepared to pay the 80 bucks for themSeems abit steep but thanks heaps for ur adviseI have a mate who is a chef as well and he's sporting some pretty wicked dreads so this question is for him I've passed on your website to himHe wants to know is it possible to trim dreads alittle shorter and still have them loc up nice at the end ?Would it just be a normal crochet maintenance to tidy the ends up ?I tried to convince him to just get a bigger hat but he already wears the largest one availableCheers drew
