How do you put sea shells in your dreads.

cowry shells have a teethlike edge to them sometimes a holes drilled in sometimes they are tied in othertimes theyre just put in to stay naturally' the history of the cowry shell was africans when taken into slavery were valued higher by the number of shells in theyre locks cause they were clammers who worked hard having the dreads dangling in the water and the shells became attached
so more shells meant harder workers higher value
ofcourse hen most had the dreeads cut off
so it was used more as just an int]dicatio of who might worjk harder..
sorry for the history lessson but it shows that just dangling the hair in the surf for hours a day some would just get attached.
