ok, started my dreads in the front with backcombing, then switched to the twist n rip thanks to SE. I have been neglecting ever since. I am now 3 weeks or so into my dreads and they have locked nicely except I have about six inches or so of loose hair at my roots, will this go away on its own or do I need to do something to fix it?

im sure its more like 3 inches its totaly normal to have 1-3 inches loose at the roots for many months this will get less and less as they mature and usualy stops at 1/2 inchy between months 8 and 13

if you force it o be tight to the scalp they can stick up can pull painfully can halt actual natural dreading at the roots and if u keep forcing tightness can thun weaken the dread even break it possibly even lead to permenant scalp trauma and balding

so just leave the roots alone they will dread on theyre own..but not for many months
