I've had my dreads for 8 months and they are great, but the roots have all sorts of loose hairs that aren't attached to any dread. Any advice on neatening that up?

leave em alone they will join dreads or become new dreads when theyre long enough u never should do anything about em at all

only exception is if the ones in the front are really annoying u blowing in youur eyes u can tuck um under the roots or twist n rip wem to start new dreads

otherwise just leave em alone

how did u start yours whjst was used ..lers see pics

I started them with backcombing and wax, and I think what was best for them was that I was swimming in the ocean every day for the first few months. I can't do that this time of year, so now I use sea salt shampoo and it works fantastic. I also use a hair moisturizer made for ethnic hair which keeps them nice and healthy.

well theres a few options theres the body splash wich eats it up like crazy its orange oil based theres gunk oiut an industrial strength orange oil based solvent (all natural) theres straight vinager soaks ..boiling ..dawn dish soap all asre only partialy effective except the orange oil should eventualy get it all i think theres 2 options the body splash and a dewaxing soap (incidebntly made by fo9rmer dreadheadhq suporters who left that site to help cleran uo the messes they caused here )
the soaps cheaper but not as powerful but either should work u might just need a few gardss of the soap to get it all but the more u remove the better your dreads will be
