Welcome Canuck. You came to the right place to get you started on your journey. Read all the tips on the dreaducation pages to learn all you can for healthy dreads.

If you are doing twist & rip method, I suggest you let your hair naturally section first for a couple of weeks. This way your hair will do a map of where the sections want to be. Just divide any that are larger than a 25 cent coin, any larger causes long drying times.

Don't do the twists tightly, they need to loosen back up in order to dread and never re-twist. All you will need to do after that is wash 2-3 times a week and separate any two sections trying to join together. That's it.

So, read all you can & you will have Happy Happy Dreads

Peace

Welcome to the community Cameron. If you have African American hair, let us know when you post any washing questions, as African hair structure is different and needs more conditioning. This is the best site for all your dreading needs. Peace
