1st time with locks: high school senior in 2010. Backcombed, and used wax. I brushed them out in 2012. I wish i didnt, they had the loops and i didnt realize this was normal. Loops are normal! Everyone needs to know this!!!
What i learned that would have made this successful: I learned that you should use your lock shampoo weeks before backcombing to prepare and cleanse your hair to adapt to having locks easier. SKIP the wax. Read up, watch videos on every lock stage so you know what to look for.
2nd attempt with locks: boxer in 2016. Freeformed locks after headbanging at a metal festival 3 days in a row. 8 months later, I brushed them out after a mental breakdown. I had a DUI, addiction problems and i couldnt take the pain anymore.
What i learned that would have made this successful: I learned to be patient with myself. Take care of your mental health. FACE THE PROBLEM IN YOUR LIFE FACE FIRST. This is part of the freeform journey.
This is my 3rd and last time freeforming. Im doing this after being 2 years sober. Im a stay at home mom of 2 boys. Avid yogi that is taking care of every facet of mental health after surviving a physically and mentally traumatic childhood. Freeform Locks are part of a journey, they dont develop overnight. Patience is this virtue.
