Much love. The braids will help for a little while, but at some point you will have to rip. It's how it goes. As your hair grows out, there will be loose straight hair at the root. This hair will tangle with other sections and create a mess right at your scalp. When this happens, I'dencourageyou to watch my separation tutorial and see how much you really need to separate to maintain healthy locks. There should always be a state of tangle at the roots. As long as it doesn't creep up the body of your locks, you're good to go.
And Your husband seems like a great guy. I've spoken to him a few times and helped him out.
