Washing more often helps the locks a bit faster. The cleaner your hair, the easier it tangles and knots. A ton of tangling and tightening happens when you sleep because you are rolling around and your hair gets rubbed from every angle.
Welcome. Occasionally palm rolling won't create lasting knots. It cleans them up for a few hours, but once you go to sleep or wash, it all comes undone. And if you do it enough to create lasting knots, it will actually do a ton of damage to your roots. It rips hairs out and breaks hairs all along the lock. It's really not worth it. I did it for just 2 weeks when I started and, 6 years later, I am still trying to fix the damage.
As for the tips. I know some people like them blunted. There's nothing wrong with liking that look. But just so you know, blunt tips take hours and hours longer to dry. Wispy tips let water drain right out. blunt tips hold water in and let it pool there.

Welcome. Twisting to start isn't bad, but doing it again and again more than 2-3 times year will cause baldness over time.
What are you washing with?
Hip Forum I'm on there as well.
