if they retured to straight unknotted hair and were washed a few times u maybe did get it all but a tiny bit used only once has had ppl finding wax in them years later so thats why we tress being very agressive when removing wax and to do multiple treatments after yiu are convinced its all gone just to be safe..but ..if the hairs all unknotted a few washes should get it ok
especialy with a dish soap or other grease cutting soap

Welcome. Did you scrub all of the wax out? Just washing with soap and water won't clean it out. No matter how hot the water is.
