Okay V-Cha, I read on chat that you have concerns. Let see if we can ease them for you.

First off, dreads start to knot when they are approximately 6 inches or longer, anything shorter and they will only separate, waiting to reach the 6 inches. You can take Biotin 6000mcg strength to quicken the growth. Found at local drug stores in the vitamin section, can't find that strength, just add up the pills to equal it.

2md- Wearing anything on your head impedes the process, slows it down. If you don't need to wear a bandana, don't.

3rd- What have you been using to wash with 2-3 times a week? Many shampoos have built in conditioners, that is why a dread shampoo is recommended. Here is the ratio for the baking soda (BS) & apple cider vinegar (ACV) wash. Mix 1/2 cup of BS with 5 cups of water, pour over wet head and leave it on for 10-20 minutes, no scrubbing needed, it exfoliates all on its own. Now rinse out well. Next mix 1 capful of ACV to 5 cups water and pour over head. Rinse out within one minute or you will over condition. If you have an extremely oily scalp, then skip the ACV, it is used to restore the hairs PH balance, oily scalps don't need this.

4th- If you have been scrubbing your hair how you did before you started to dread, that could be one of many hinders to the process.

5th- no pony tails, again, it slows it down. The hair needs to be free, move and form knotting from the movement

6th-the only things to do are: separate any sections trying to join together or else they will be a big matted mess (especially in the back of head due to sleeping habits), wash 2-3 times a week, clean hair dreads, oily hair causes knots to slip out, no blow dryers or towel rubbing, let your hair reach 6 inches.

I used BS/ACV my entire first year and did not scrubbing. Bars are good for mature locks. Liquid is good for young ones, (although you can use bars then. ).

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask me.....peace

Welcome. Eagle's right. Retwisting will only cause baldness. Was wax used to start them?
