would you cut off your dreds for your job

General Talk

I couldn't have said it better.

It's a tough call. Your locks are obviously very important to you. In an ideal world, nobody would have to compromise their principles in order to survive... but unfortunately we don't live in that world. The job market really sucks right now so sometimes you just gotta accept that you're at the mercy of bigoted employers, and do what you can to get by.

For me personally, surviving is more important than what my hair looks like. So if not cutting meant not being able to find a job and pay my rent, then hell yes I would cut. My identity isn't tied to my hair. I'd miss my dreads like crazy and it would suck, but hey, eating every day and keeping a roof over my head is always the priority.

feeling a bit discouraged :(

Dreading Methods

I know that feeling ^^...

I've done a bit of TnR to help mine started but I am in my fourth month and I just start seing them tightening...
I thought it would be a lot quicker. To keep my motivation up, I watch a lot of pictures on the web and try to find some people who are at the same stage that me... And it feels great to see that you are not alone it that case. Some guys will have beautiful dreads and other will have less advanced that yours. Any dreadhead is unique and time shape them as well as your personality, going to difficulty with your hair make you stronger. Keep it up and never give up hehe. In a year time you gonna have beautiful dreadlocks, patience is the key of success.

Bless.

Thank you so much for your comments =}

I really thought that it was hopeless 3 months ago. Only time can make nice dreadlocksbut it is so hard to wait.

I will be doing a road trip for a month in Australia and then I have to catch a plane middle of march to NewZealand. So my next uptade should be in early april.

Thanks again.

Bless y'all.

Update!!! :)

7th of Feb 2011, today it's been approximately 6months and 10 days.

Pretty happy. I havehad some troubles with my scalp recently. Dandruffs and itchiness but it is getting better. My job in construction is a pain coz it makes my hair really dirty, I cannot cover my hair coz it is too hot hereso I got micro pieces of tiles stuck in my hair :( ... Anyway I am almost done with this job :)

Ok, I said no more crochet! But I used it yesterday just to clean up my loose hair but I didn't do my roots (they dread themselves). I made little balls of loose hair and pulled it inside the locks. I didn't insist much to not break the dreading process but the clean up make me feel better.

BTW I am so happy my hair grows so fast. I can tie them but it looks weird, better wait another 2 or 3 months.

Have a look a the pictures ;)

Peace

Dreading Methods

Hi everyone,

Day 143 (4 months and 3 weeks).

Don't really know what to say... I am just happy.

I am living in Perth Australia (west coast). Summer is definetely settled and since my last update I have been to the beach at least 4 days a week for a little bath into the ocean. Salt water has amazing effect on dreadlocks (cleaning, health and tightening). I reduced my washing routine at two washes amonth. My hair doesn't smelland is pretty clean. My scalp is sometimes itchydue to the salt, so I just rince it with water and massage with rosemary oil (5-6 drops straight onto the scalp) and rince again. It works kinda well.

Peace;)

Dreading Methods

To continue hehe...Here are the last pictures...really fresh taken today.3rd month: 17th of October 2010I had a lot of trouble during my 3rd month. I started to use BS and ACV for the first time... :(I made my BS mix and scrubed my hair (not gently...) and then soaked it for 10 min, then rinced it with ACV and... after drying pretty much all my locks were gone!I was so disappointed...Started to look better during the middle of the month and a week ago I did construction work. My hair was really dusty and decided to clean it properly. once again, big trouble happened (see http://www.dreadlockssite.com/forum/topics/hair-loss-and-dread?xg_source=activity#axzz12ahzVnWh ).But I am still really motivated... "Never give up"They start to look better. And as said before I am now going 100% natural, no beads, no crochet, nothing...just time.I will continue to post every months.Bless.
