Hey Tommy, Thanks for the compliment! my dreads are only 2 months old, I used the twist and rip method on the sides and im allowing the back to do its own thing naturally! For the ones in the back, to keep them together because Im a bit OCD, i had to do something, at first i um seperated and rubberband them for about a week maybe less, took them out and then everytime I got out of the shower I would seperate them, you know so they wouldnt congo and I would twist each of them and then use a straightener on them but soaring eagle said that both were bad for my dreads but it really seemed to help keep the hairs where they belonged. now i still seperate and twist but not so much straighten.... I did ALOT of research and I saw alot of ppl say the back combing wasnt the best method but it does work. If they are coming undone try the twist and rip, it looks neater as well in my opinion! hope that helps im new at this too.
They will smooth out in time. But before that happens, you'll need to go through the messy, bumpy, loopy phases. There's no way around it unless you are willing to damage them. Loops and bumps are good signs that locking is happening.
Welcome. It looks like you've got rubber bands in your hair. If you do, take them out. The elastic in the rubber bands squeezes your locks too tight, no matter how loose you put them in. This creates weak spots. The hair under the rubber bands doesn't ever fully lock. They can also snap and get sucked into your locks where they dry rot, growing mold and mildew.
I'd also like to know if wax or anything was used, too
Welcome. Locks are the simplest hair style. They take complete care of themselves. All that goes into growing healthy locks is washing and separating. That's it. Anything a salon or KB/DHHQ tells you to do is very damaging and only serves their purpose of making profits

Welcome. But what method did you use / plan to use?
The only things you have to do for beautiful locks is wash regularly and separate hen sections get too big or dreads grow together.
