I had my pregnancies confused. My daughter was almost 2 when this happened. It was her birth experience that kind of convinced my hubby to use a midwife that time. My ob was in a rush when she was born and pulled too hard on her head causing a brachial plexus injury. When I found out I was pregnant when she was almost 2, he was more willing to use a midwife because I pointed out that a midwife wouldn't be so brutal with a baby being born. Then I lost that baby. She was amazing thru that. If I had been able to get a baby to stick after that I most definitely would have used her for the birth.
The name Ina May sounds familiar but my memory sucks so bad...
JFMS, oops...miscounted! My friend Diana Jenner unschools. We are in Oregon and she's pretty social...so if you go to national conferences or I forget what all it is you unschoolers do...you probably know her!
Mons, the farm is the community (commune) that Ina May lives at. Ina May is amazing....she went to school for writing or literature or something...but ended up being the most famous midwife in US! Look her up...read her books...she is awesome!
My dad blamed my midwifery care on my pregnancy complications. I had to get it through his head that it was because of her that my daughter is still alive! I could tell she got a feeling that I needed to get the ultra sound I did...even if I wasn't going to try and find out if my baby was a boy or a girl. I almost just said no...I didn't need one.
What's this farm? It's been a long time since I had a baby, so am I out of the birthing loop on this?
Ixchel, are you expecting again? If so, how did I miss that? (it's that loop thing isn't it?)
JFMS, that's incredible, congrats on having so many unassisted births. I had a midwife for one pregnancy (technically my 3rd), it took a lot of convincing to get my hubby to go for it. Then I lost that baby at 16 wks. With the next pregnancy (my 3 baby born) unfortunately there was no way he was going to go for a midwife. Not that it was the midwife's fault that I miscarried, but ya know how things just stick in peoples heads?
unassisted wow! i would love to do that but when i'm in labor my mind isn't there & my husband won't do the research & reading to know how to identify if there was an issue. bah. i do love my midwife tho! do you do your own prenatal care?
yay! right now all I care about for when the time comes to birth another baby is to be able to vaginally birth a healthy baby. Where isn't so much of an issue as long as I'm not strapped to all sorts of monitors!

Oh gee! FIVE?!
I just have the one who is now almost 7 months! Which...is crazy!
oh...so your first was a c-section?! I'm hoping to be able to have a vaginal birth with all future children!
I love my midwife too! Even if I she didn't get to catch my baby! We went to college together and were in the same program/classes.
thank you! they are amazing <3

oh yeah. My doc said don't even think about getting pregnant again in the next year! BEST to wait at least two!
Not like I have a partner anyway. Haha. No worries or risk of me getting pregnant again currently!
yeah the things they put us through eh?
i hope all moms who want vbacs can get them, it's sad that so many providers won't even think of it as an option
your babe is still little so you still have plenty of time right?
