Sorry for the late reply. If you don't use anything to wash with, the oils in your hair can also slow dreading. On my last set I only used water, but I would definitelyrecommendthe BS/ACV as opposed to just water.
Welcome to the forum. If you do not use shampoo for washing, what do you use? If you use conditioner it will also prevent dreading. There are methods for starting dreads, in the following link, and what to wash with. If you have very curly hair then you should have no problem dreading, but messiness in the early stages is something that you cannot avoid. As Rainbow Fortune suggested, you could wear a tam while at work to cover up the mess.
