welcome but your making a lot of mistakes that are very counter poductive

1 crochet hooks should never touch dreads..period your only creating loose hairs by breaking tons of hairs

palm rolling does nothing..literally

flipping the dread trough the root is the only thing that can make them break at the root!vb plus can cause balding holes weak points and 'snap points' rubber bands should never be used on dreads..ever

if you wash properly they will just lock..but you need loose hairs at the roots to prevent balding (traction alopecia) wash weekly or more ofen with a dread shampoo ( www.dreadlockshampoo.com is best use bars normaly but if you want to encourse the roots to dread switch to liquid for a wash or 2 every few months I do that and gt a dozen new dreads and all my roots knot up so fast they all try to join together)

if yur still having to work on them after 7 years that should tell you your doing something wrong
