yes ofcourse but being african american he will need more moisture so aloe or something...as needed but not overusedbut its normal to have some undreaded hair at the scalp 1-3 inches is normal for young dreads older dreads tend to be 1/2 -1 inchhow were his dreads started?alotta ppl use very harmful ways to make them way too tight to the scalp

is your son blaclk ? u dont want gel thats the problem that and conditionerswhat did he do to "make them"if hes not black u dont want gels or conditioneres or regular shampoos eitherafter he stops that theres nothing to do but let them dreadthe conditionerts are preventing dreading
