i want you to be aware that the lock docta, is a felting needle. now i want you to think about somthing
a sweater, and a peice of felted wool are the same material, the sweater you can't rip in 1/2 easily with all your might, felted wool can be picked apart with fingers easily. when you use a felting nedle to flt wool your shreading the wools long fibers (few inches) into tiny tattered peices (1/16th of an inch average) held together by the torn rough edges.
the lock docta warns that poking too much can make a drad fall off
their solution
poke some more
NEVER USE ANYTING FROM THAT SITE NOT THE TOOLS METHOD OR PRODUCTS OR ADVICE
yes i know what site the most discredited site for dreads. (i hope you never used the wax)
backcombing is matginaly ok (twist and rips better .. just lettig it dread naturaly is best (don't believe the lies it really is best and often fastest)
backcombing lightly for 80s style "big hair" causes this permenant damage
once the hairs protective cuticles are damaged like above
any additional damage is far easirt (heat chemical and from all the excessive manipulation then poking with brutal tools)
the cuticles are meant to open and close and respond to hanges in conditions, but after backcombing they no longer function to protect the hair
