Welcome. In case you didn't know, or haven't heard yet, don't use sea salt if you aren't going to be washing within a few hours. Leaving it in too long will over dry your scalp and hair, making your hair brittle and your scalp itch like mad

Welcome to the community L Beezie and to your new journey....Depending how long your hair is, your journey will take 1-2 years to mature, and it is a wonderful journey to take....peace

Welcome to the community Anna. Glad you found this site, the best one there is for all your healthy dreadlock information. The dreaducation section at the top of the site is the best place to start. Ask any questions you have, we want you to make good decisions for yourself. Curly hair makes the most beautiful dreadlocks, the journey happens much quicker. The best method for curly hair is the neglect method, as your hair would naturally curl up more and tighten. I truley hope you use this method with yours. I used twist & rip, but had straight hair, with yours neglect all the way baby.

For dreading, here is the proper ratio for the baking soda wash, apple cider vinegar rinse: http://www.dreadlockssite.com/forum/topics/ratios-baking-soda-wash-apple-cider-vinegar-rinse-sea-salt-mix You can use this for your entire journey.....No more conditioners from here on in if you decide to dread, the apple cider vinegar is a natural conditioner and the only one you need. Other types will undo progress.

Your friends are right, your hair is awesome for dreads and they would look great on you.....peace
